Cook in the tent or no.

Let me know Muddy. I will take it to elk camp. Hope you feel better and heal fast. mtmuley
Will do! Appreciate the kind words. I cannot believe how great this ice therapy and cycling compression works such I no longer have pain (no meds needed) and can start to walk albeit slowly. In fact have not taken any pain meds at all.

I was thinking how nice something like this would be at camp with the different wraps and sleeves! Roll an ankle? I bet this would help keep you going faster! Knee and Shoulder wraps too.

I understand and you have me thinking possibly going a different route. There have been bears in the Root from time to time. Might as well get used to acting like they are here all the time. mtmuley

Bro, I'm just looking out for you. This place would suck if you got et by a bar.

Haven't had a pinch since '88. Still dream of it from time to time. In dreams I can't ever get it all outta my mouth.

Back on topic: one reason to have a tarp over your wall tent.
I have not had Cope since 2002 and I for some reason have it in some of my dreams as well...but I don't even think about using that stuff again.

Your not in a western hunt camp if you don't smell the aroma of cowboy coffee over an open fire. Yep, and the taste is even better.

Love it. That or cowboy coffee.

We have a percolator with a wooden handle. I've partially melted the top view hole because of the stove pipe.

But the strainer doesnt really filter, so you get a little bit of the Cowboy coffee effect.

A couple weekends ago camping, my in laws were there in a different camp spot. I asked my FIL if he wanted cowboy coffee. He never heard of it. Haha. I told him what it was. "No, I'll pass" lol.

Good stuff.
Give me that cowboy coffee, that hits the spot.

I've cooked inside the tent for ages, hang something disposable behind the stove to keep grease off the canvas if you're cooking bacon all the time but other than that its all good to go.
We hunted elk every year and used a 10x12 wall tent, cooked in them always, full breakfasts and dinners. Somehow we ended up with 6 hunters and got a 14x18. It was huge, some great times.

When I was a junior in High School I worked at a fairly large dairy farm for the area. I ran out if Copenhagen. A good friend of mine that worked there also said, here, have a cigarette. No crap in your teeth. Perfect. 12 years and 2 packs a day of Marlboro Reds later, I quit. Over 30 years ago.

Bro started me on cigs at 12, finally quit about 30ish. Quit at least 2 dozen times. Once for 2 years, but back then cigs were allowed as handouts on gaming tables. My work station was steps away so I "just smoked one", yeah, and another, and...can't stand the things now though, even I have a few more lbs than before.

I guided in the Bob about 15 years ago. All the meals were homemade in the cook tent. Someone was always in camp, so that was probably the biggest deterrent for a bear. They never had any issues with bears in camp, but would have one hanging around the meat pole every so often, which was about 100 yards from the cook tent. Nowadays I’m hunting where griz have been spotted, but no established population. I prefer what other guys have mentioned - pre cook meals then just reheat in camp (in the tent during rifle, outside during archery), but that’s just basically heating water and coffee. I keep garbage, food, cooler in the truck while out hunting.
