Construction, busy or slowing down

The other thing is… I almost never see project schedules anymore. It used to be customary to have a project schedule, critical path items identified, this week scheduled, a one week look ahead, etc.
updates distributed to all parties every week. That just simply does not happen and people look at you like you are insane if you suggest it should.
I share 4 week look ahead schedules every Friday with all subs on every project I'm running. Based on what i hear, I wish more PMs did that too.

The best is when we get sent to subgrade a parking lot or cut for curb and the concrete or asphalt guys are starting the same day...right up your ass. Makes for a great time. That's usually not on the pm that's on our boss actually.

Scheduling like that just leads to a bunch of angry people. I usually set the main schedule, then work hand in hand with the superintendent to keep and ideally beat the original schedule. Always easier to get done early than later!

I have talked to some subs that say they are slowing a bit. But in the high end customer world it is not, billionaires have moved in and need another house or two. But it’s the stupid money, $1,250sf type stupid.
