I just bought a Cold Steel knife. I got
the Master hunter made with the carbon v
steel. Question: How in the heck do you
sharpen this thing? I was told when I bought
it they are tough to sharpen because of the
hard steel. It doesn't need to be sharpened
yet, just looking for suggestions from
anyone who owns one how to sharpen this thing. Thanks

What I recommend you do is heat up the knife. If you put the knife in an oven at 350 for 30 minutes this should make it easier to sharpen, it is common knowledge that knives are harder to sharpen when they are cold, just at it is harder to scoop out ice cream when it is frozen solid. I hope this has been of some help.

Fecinogn is, of course, correct. Get that baby hotter'n a forged hammer in Hell, and once you've melted the Kraton rubber handle off it, you won't be worrying about sharpening probelms. Then you can have a bladesmith put a micarta handle on it, for about 80$$, and then you have another bladesmith retemper it for another 75$$, and then you'll have a real braggin' piece!!

(Seriously, get yourself the EZE-LAP Diamond Sharpener, Model M. It's not only very handy and packable, but extremely efficient to sharpen your C.S. knife... and about any other knife I've run into.)

Good luck. L.W.
