My 6 year old is bound and determined she’s going to shoot a coyote this year. I had previously cut the stock down on my old 17hmr so my oldest could start shooting it when she started shooting a few years ago. It’s cut the same LOP as a tikka youth stock. Well this week my 6 year old finally fits it so she wanted to start shooting. We started last night at water bottles at 25 yards. Quickly found out that was no challenge for her so we moved them to 50 yards where she was still drilling them. Tonight I set up the steel target at 100 yards and let her shoot it. She’s been a VERY quick learner. She doesn’t know it yet but I bought a tikka youth 16” threaded 223 for her that I will setup for later this fall.

Here’s her 5 shot group at 100 yards in the wind with a 17hmr that’s probably only good for a 2”-3” group because it’s never been cleaned in its life and probably has no more rifling left in it from the thousands of rounds it’s seen
