But MT (and WY and ID and CO) is privileged that no matter how badly they screw up their wildlife, other states will have screwed theirs up worse and can bank on NRs waiting in line, with wads of greenbacks, for an opportunity at the last scrap.

Yep. And no matter what the problem is, the solution/answer is always further restricting or getting rid of non-residents.

This is not meant to be a challenge to Ben Lamb’s quite well-stated summary and reasonable justification of said regulation. Merely a recognition of the general trend.

Although I've never had one land on my barrel, I imagine the only thing going through their heads, if they knew a song, would be Country Roads. On repeat, with the occasional "oop, better flush to the nearest stick looking thing", then go back to Country Roads again.

I took the first week of archery season off and the change imo which is usually the minority on here, was awesome. Good luck to all the nonresident bird hunters coming out. Happy to see Montana make some positive changes for the people and the wildlife.
 
We had a mountain range mostly to ourselves. A few birds to hand, but they were holding in the thick cover and flushing ahead. Probably put up 25 birds in 2 days of hunting mtn grouse. We had shots on about 1/3 of them, and only brought two to hand. I clearly need more trigger time with the new sxs. Someday I'll remember to take some pictures. Until then, the memories will suffice.

Glad to hear it had the desired effect in R7, @DFS.
