Know before you go due to the recent rainfall. Just fyi, the roads you may have planned to use to access some country may be washed out.

Wow thats gonna hurt the bowhunters out there which roads are those in the pics nemont northside of CMR? I'm sure the whole area is a mess it was only a year or two ago some major flooding occurred up there also remember the pics.

Those pics are from the Petroleum County Sheriff's office but roads on the north side suffered damage as well.

I think if you staked out a waterhole to set up a blind for archery antelope, that ship has sailed as those speed goats can water anywhere right now.

I was up North of winnett this weekend, it was great! the camper gets pretty small after 48 hrs of steady rain and 3 little girls! still better than sitting at home.... I think???

Looks like the water washed up some sort of furry thing on the left side of the bridge.

I went to the NOAA site, but I can't find that map. Could you post one of the counties just to the West? I am curious what Fergus County received in precip. Thanks!

Yesterday I drove across the central and eastern part of the state via Hwy 200. It was incredible how much water there was in the usually dry creek bottoms and in the fields. The most inundated area seemed to be between Great Falls and the Musselshell River, but it was wet everywhere east of the divide.

Heavy rains ruin roads in Fergus, Petroleum counties

Gazette Staff

Some gravel roads in Petroleum and Fergus counties are impassable following damage caused by last week's heavy rainstorms.

Petroleum County Sheriff Bill Cassell reported that Horse Camp Bridge, Alex Camp Crossing and Carl's Camp Crossing are all impassable.

Valentine Road is closed and portions of Blakeslee Road are washed out in areas between Grass Range and Winnett, north of the Teigen Ranch. The bridge crossing at Nunn Road and Welter Divide Road is gone.

In Fergus County Black Butte Road south of Roy is closed due to a washout and missing culvert.

“Many washouts are not yet marked and travel is dangerous at night,” said Shane Hershman, administrative officer for the Bureau of Land Management.

Drivers are advised to avoid traveling back roads at night if possible. If nighttime travel is necessary, drivers should proceed with caution and at reduced speeds.

Due to the volume of damage it is likely a number of these roads will not be repaired by archery season, which opens on Sept. 6, Hershman pointed out.

For the most current information on road conditions, call the BLM’s Lewistown Field Office at 406-538-1900, or the Fergus County Road Department at 406-535-5006. Your local BLM office may have additional road information specific to your area of interest.

What a mess!

I'm nervous about getting around in rifle season, let alone archery.

I don't know how high fort peck is but I know oahe was getting near full capacity as of a few weeks ago. Let's hope ther corp doesn't flush everything down stream again.

I heard James Kipp Campground at the Fred Robinson bridge is under water. That means the willows are underwater. It will be a circus on opening weekend. I wouldn't want to drive in the area in the dark.

Ha, here's a couple that I took. These are my two choices for going to town. We had been waiting three years to get that culvert installed. The county put it in last week, it started raining that night. 10" at Winnett and 11" over towards Bohiemian Corner had to all run thru there. That is a 12 foot diameter culvert.
