Woman in Missoula was sentenced to prison. In all seriousness thanks for the info. Probly gonna get a Dutch oven too. mtmuleyWho doesn’t like a Crisco rub down!?
I sanded a couple down years ago. They do cook nice. My Dutch ovens are not sanded. The pans are worth it, ovens are not IMO.If you get a new one sand it down like Ken tells you.I have a cabelas 14 inch and works good but not like my really old cast iron that is smooth. Going to sand down soon and start over.
We really prefer the enamel Dutch oven over a crackpot. Ymmv.ovens are not IMO
I’m assuming you mean crockpot? We really prefer the enamel Dutch oven over a crackpot. Ymmv.
Well...yah that too.I’m assuming you mean crockpot?
^^This. But seriously look into flaxseed oil.I would hit that with a wire brush on a drill, then steel wool, then soapy water followed by vinegar.
Then season. I do mine at 450, wipe with a light coat of canola oil and put it in upside down for about 30-40 minutes. Pull it out, wipe it again and repeat 5-6 times.
No? Means enameled iron pn such as Le Crueset sort of pans I bet.I’m assuming you mean crockpot?
I’ve noticed the sanded pans need a lot more maintenance. They are more sensitive to spatula abuse by my daughters.I’ve never sanded one, but have read that getting it too smooth can prevent the seasoning from properly bonding to the surface.
