Canada Bear Hunt Rifle

To quell some off season boredom, let's take a vote.

I'm going on a baited spring bear hunt in New Brunswick in early June. What would you use?

Yes, over bait so less than 50 yard shots.

Assuming baited, the .35 would be cool.

I’m torn between the Savage 99, Marlin 336 or the Rem 760 Carbine. Savage 99 got my vote but I’d have at least two of these three along if I change my mind.

I can use a bow, but I've got all these rifles that are way more interesting than my boring old Hoyt RX1

Well then if you don't want boring leave the bolt actions at home.

Take the scope off that 35 and use iron sights.

I've got factory ammo for everything as well as the ability to handload for them

That’s like torture, you probably need to book at least two more hunts to be fair to the rifles. I voted for the 35 rem because I can’t imagine a better option for bear than that big slow bullet up close. The 99 and 760 are very close runners up.

Looking forward to hearing how the hunt goes, I’ve been looking at these or maybe Maine
