Our take the kids to camp got side tracked when we couldn't get back the road to camp. Solid ice. So a few phone calls later we got permission to use a cabin on the hard road. A 1953 deer camp.

Our hunting camp in northern MN, my wives family have been hunting up there in roughly the same spot and camping since the 1950’s. It’s my favorite trip of the year.

Two wall tents and typically around 15 guys. These photos were from the first year I went back in 2013 and my son went for the first time last year.

Here’s a couple of my favorites, first one is from backpacking into unit 66 2 years ago for ML elk. Had plenty of opportunities but couldn’t make it happen. However I learned the area well and my Big Agnes tent I got for 60 bucks off marketplace did great in the rain.

Second one is a dirtbike trip to Moab, my Oztent RV5 is one of my favorite camping items I own. I’ve taken it all over the country in all sorts of weather for the past 5 years and it’s been awesome, sets up in minutes but it takes up a ton of space in your truck.

Third one is from fire camp a few years ago in the Dominguez canyon area adjacent to the Uncompahgre. I was practicing my best iPhone photography, threw a dim headlamp in the tent and put my camera on long exposure to capture the milky way in the background.

4th one is that same oztent during a winter hunt near Grandby, even with the cold temps it didn’t have too much condensation on the walls in the morning.
