Love winter but ready for spring...this warm weather in MT has me dreaming of sheds, morels, and big black boars! Anyone been out shed hunting yet? It's so close I can taste it.

I getting ready to sandbag our garage to keep it from flooding during the melt set for this week.

Also, dreaming of warm nights out catching the caddis hatch, throwing big bugs to hungry mountain trout and spring bear. It's certainly been a heck of a winter.

Siding and new deck on the abode is on my mind. Want to knock those out as quick as I can this spring so I can get on to the more fun pursuits - dry fly fishing, ATV riding/camping in Pipestone, scouting my elk spots and outdoor 3D shoots! Shed hunting will have to wait until next year for me. Hope everyone finds a truckload!

Just waiting for the snow to start going down. It's at least 2 feet against the side of the house presently.

50° today here in the root, and most of the next week. We've had a heatwave for a while now.

We were in Helena last weekend. I couldn't believe the amount of snow on the ground and piled up everywhere. Is that normal?

It's the snowiest winter I've seen here in a decade. We didn't get as much of a January thaw as we had hoped, so it just kept piling up. I think the valley is going to be in for a rough ride over the next couple of weeks.

This year in far N.E. Calif., It's been mild and we have just now started to get our usual snow but there have been winters here where the snow was piled up over my windows by January and stayed there until spring. Little money, phone not ringing, bills to pay, our Winters can be Very long indeed. I laugh and can relate to the old Jimmy Buffet song, "Boat Drinks", "I shot 6 holes in my Freezer, I think i got Cabin Fever..."

The Fix? Jump in the Camper truck, Head down the Mountain to the quaint college town of Chico, and spend a few days down there kicking it in comparative warmth, doing as i please.
