Ahhhh yes, a long beard finally...After another Jake filled start to the day at 1030 a long beard finally made his way in. Five Jakes total with three being the most aggressive and messing my set-up, up right off the bat...Lil mugs wouldn't leave and I had a early long beard skirt my location...

Yes in that last picture you can see they molested my hen, and thumped my jake pushing him down...I was really starting to think about thumping another Jake, just because...

They were around from 0730 on easy, never leaving and coming to any purrs, cluks or yelps I made...I had other birds sounding off in the area and knowing some good Tom's were around, I held off...Finally about 1030 I had another hot bird coming from a long ways off and behind me...Soon I could see him in a draw and see by the reaction of the Jakes it was going to get interesting....Sure enough the lil mugs take off to head him off!

I thought for sure this was another Jake blown hunt, when he made his way through them and into what was left of my set-up...Coming from behind and with the Jakes in tow I was not going to wait around, thumping him right after this picture..

As you can see in the picture, the knocked over hen didn't even phase him...The shot was perfect, through the thigh and lodging in the off side wing butt...He went nowhere!

Very nice bird and pictures! Congrats. Way to step it up and use the bow! I'd like to give it a try next year with my longbow.
