Bugle report from the Gila, New Mexico.

Hey all. I'm the lucky winner of a Gila archery hunt that starts the 15th. Was wondering how those bulls are looking like and sounding down there? Have the elk been affected by the drought, horn growth, delayed rut? Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!!

Very green in most parts of the Gila now & lots of water...for the Gila. Been pretty quiet so far,soon it will start to get noisy.Heard a few calls or week bugles last evening locally.Even better I just heard a real bugle in the dark at home.
Drought did not hinder antler growth from what I have seen.
Heard of one 390" bull out of the Wilderness....seen a few decent bulls in town & some small ones.
