Arrive in Deboche and our tea house was luxurious with hot showers and heated mattress pads!!!

I am not one to take pics of hotel rooms but at this elevation and zero roads it was amazing the investment these people made in building such a place

PS get used to the Kuiu camo and yes I was the only one wearing it on the whole trek.

I want to echo or ask why the face covering? @kansasdad asked was it for temps, sun exposure? What say you?

The face buff is for the sun, the dust on the trail and the air is so dry it helps avoid the Khumbu cough. It was a very useful item to have.

We only had rain on day one then sunny and beautiful but the yak trains, mules trains and trekkers can stir up the dust too.

@Nemont , does everyone that climbs Everest have to take this long journey to base camp? I always thought you could ride a helicopter in. You would miss this incredible trip, though.

Try to make a stop at the Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature (Museum of Hunting and Nature) while you’re there. 62 Rue des Archives in le Marais.

Must be an archery museum since the French weren't able to hang on to a rifle! I kid, I kid.

Heck of a trip! Can't wait for more elevation gain!

@Nemont , does everyone that climbs Everest have to take this long journey to base camp? I always thought you could ride a helicopter in. You would miss this incredible trip, though.

Most teams that climb will trek in to help acclimate but the chopper back fro EBC either to Kathmandu or Lukla.

View attachment 277031Day 7 was Dingboche to Loboche 4.6 miles and almost 2,000 feet higher as per usual the Nepali flat of huge downs followed by huge ups. My fitness tracker said I burned almost 3,800 calories on this day

The one thing I noticed is the sandals, crocs, and tennis shoes on the locals. All the "visitors" are in boots.

I booked through Active Adventures out of New Zealand. Great guides, was really above my expectations as far as being as comfortable as possible and well taken care of. They seem to have an in at all the best places to stay. I was also happy with their pre and post trip help, info and now friendship

We have been watching many YouTube videos, pretty much know every step of the way to EBC. The porters are amaizing. This thread has us really pulling the trigger for October 2024. If we make it alive to Lukla that would be worth the price of admission.
