Broken Euro

Had a Euro fall off the wall and glue/patience is not gonna cut it. Pretty bummed. Anyone have skull caps mounted nicely they’d like to share?

@TOGIE I’ll post some photos tonight. It is this cheap one-piece metal deal that just has a finger that sticks out into the hole on the back of the skull. That chinsey metal finger bent just enough that it slid off. It’s actually happened once before but it was my fault. Glued and repaired, bent the finger back up, and right then I should have known the integrity of that little finger was toast.

If you go with the mount base. Order one that will fit your needs. They will screw threw the skull to the base. Then use molding clay to fill in and smooth out. Generally use felt or flannel or what ever you like. Stretch tight and trim around antler bases.Generally put the tag on the back of the plaque also.

I've made a few plaque mounts, where you screw and bondo the skull cap to a small piece of plywood that, more or less tear drop/heart shaped, then use paper mache to build a mold/form around it, similar to what Brute posted above. Then stretch a piece of leather around it and screw it to a nice oak plaque. Glue black lace bordering around the antler bases and the base or the mache form. I'll try to post some pics later of what they look like.

I had one get blown up when it hit the deck while my wife was dusting it. Took it out to tru life in laurel they fixed it up nice. If you want a good guys number in Billings let me know

I've done several euros using mountain mike skulls and have been pleased with the result. Expensive for what they are.

Man if I could do my own full scale shoulder mounts, I would never pay a taxidermist or a processor again. I’ve only paid one in my life and I really try to do everything myself. Mostly because of cost but also because I like to call myself a jack-of-all, you know… I think I’m going to try the cement/plaster mix and stretch some leather or something over it. If it comes out like shit I’ll definitely be getting a phone number for someone from you….

If it was me at this point I’d probably buy a skull for shed horns and have it my horns pinned onto it. Maybe someone around here picks up a dead head they would cut the horns off for you and have a taxi pin it to a real skull

This is an elk I mounted as I described.
