I had to help 3 families move from and into new houses on saturday. I hunted for chukar and Sage grouse on Sunday. We rode in on 4 wheelers to a area that is very rugged and not many people get to. Gretta pointed the first sage hen and Jacob in the wrong position to get a shot. The next point was a small covey of chukar that he missed. The next point was a large covey of chukar, I am guessing about 40 birds. The next point was another big covey about another 40 birds. The next two points were sage hens. The second sage hen point flushed just out of range. The last one Jacob got a couple of shots at but missed. We got into one last covey, another BIG covey 40 plus.
I shot a sage grouse and a chukar, but I didn't do much shooting because I was trying to get jacob shots. It is like getting a young pointer on birds. Here are some pictures. Ron
