Backpack Bassin'

My son and I went on a backpack trip for Coosa Bass over the weekend. We packed in a few miles up the river after school on Friday evening and got camp set up.

After getting camp set up, we had about an hour to fish before dark. Cardinal flowers in bloom are always a good sign it's time to be on the creek looking for bass

The water was clear, which is also a good time to be plug fishing for these little bass.

This area is a wilderness area now, but back in the 1920s and 30s this area was logged extensively. Narrow gauge railroads were used to remove the timber from the area to the sawmills. There is still evidence of the logging to be seen after all this time.

We had a great time. Lots of pretty water, nice weather, and the fish bit good.

Wow, beautiful country and bass! Thanks for sharing, I had never heard of that species of bass. Guessing very similar habits to the smallmouth up north.

In NC, I had a blast with some bass in a river. Outside that, it's been lakes.
