A few questions for some help with my little 20 acre ranch here in Eastern Wa.

I have recently bought a tripod mounted Mountree programmable feeder. I have a lot of game birds passing through and see or hear them frequently. I would like to set this feeder up to keep them around even more.

What are the best Quail and Pheasant feeds I can use in this feeder, does it need to be near water. Without a great source of natural water can I use a tub of water or some other water dispensing system near the feeder?

Any help would be great.

People use milo here, you can buy 50 lb bags at feed stores. I don't know the best. You can make a rule, no hunting within 50 yards or 100 yards of them, to help protect them also, some do that.

You could even make a water dispenser, hook up a 12 volt pump found in marine/fishing supplies of the sports stores to a 55 gal. barrel of water on a timer and pump water off the timer. A 12 volt bilge pump and pump out a plastic tube to a big bowl set in the ground.

Here's some seed info. from Quail Unlimited,

I think they like natural water better, but here's a water bowl you could hook up to a hose that is hooked up to a 55 gal. drum with water in it. If the barrel is higher than the bowl, gravity will fill the bowl.
