August 15 is now 6 days and a wake up away!

Next Wednesday morning August 15th, is opening day of my deer season and it lasts until Jan 1st. I can't wait to turn the hounds loose and get down in the swamp. Last season, I killed a really nice 8 point in full velvet on the first Saturday of the season, and I plan to be standing in the water in the same spot Wednesday morning, with the 12 gauge loaded with 00buck shot in anticipation of killing another good buck.:hump:

Good luck! That's a LONG season! I think hunting deer with dogs would be pretty cool.

That's the squirrel opener here. I'm thinking of bagging out on work and taking my oldest out for an afternoon of looking for a couple.

Yep, dog hunting is a lot of fun, and it's harder than still hunting since the deer are on high alert and hauling ass!

Our Rifle season opens Saturday. We do drives with dogs in brushy steep canyons near the coast in THE most Liberal county in the country. (SHHHH)

2rocky, thanks, those were enjoyable!!!!!! Down here, we use shotguns and buckshot when running the hounds. With other standers, entire packs of dogs, drivers, and the fact that some of us are in the swamps and some are on access roads, rifles wouldn't be very safe or practical for us to use.

It is interesting to see how different areas can be similar, yet different!!!!!!!!!
