I am going to put a new battery in my ATV this year.
and I am considering going to the Gel type this time.
have any of you tried them ? pros or cons ???

And before anyone says use a battery tender, I already do.

Thanks
Kevin

Only made two seasons out of a gel cell so went back. The last one has been fine. I think it is the glass mat variety. My biggest concern has always been battery acid if you *get sideways*. Only reason I went with one in the first place. Do you have a battery place you trust?

I buy the YUASA brand battery. They last about six years on average. I don't use a battery tender and my ATV's are not in a heated shed

I dont know about anyone else but I have a couple of ATV's that just seem to eat batteries. I tried the AMG type last time and still got 2 years or less. It seems they are a crap shoot.

I have a 2006 yamaha and still have the stock lead/acid battery that it comes with.I just fire it up once a month in the wintertime to keep it up.8 yrs old and still fine.

Yep

I have the same trouble. I have a 2007 Suzuki 450 King Quad, and I don't use it much, it only has 1800 miles on it, I bought it for my hunting trips out west and other then that it sits a lot.
I started using a Battery Tender last year, and that helps. but with adding the winch last Fall, I need a fresh battery to be safe.

When I had to replace the Battery in my Rhino I priced them, not so good. Took it to the place I buy most of my batteries and the guy brings out a Lawn mower battery, fit fine and guess what....yep it has lasted longer that any of them for only $38.00. John
