The timber was tight on the way out so there was no visual but they were howling on us the entire time.

what are the laws out west on shooting wolves when you encounter them like that?

not exactly sure. we were discussing that on the way out. i think in self defense you can make a kill but hard to prove self defense without wounds. although if we would have killed a wolf with a recurve i think that is enough proof that we were shooting in self defense. funny thing is we were a few miles from the boarder of an open unit for wolves. the unit we were in doenst open til oct 1.
