Hang on.....experts predicting a big drop. How long will it last? And will republicans in congress still refuse to step in?

"Trump’s pick could also face more scrutiny from the Senate as a result of the latest escalation. Sen. Thom Tillis (R., N.C.) said Sunday he would block any nominee until the investigation is resolved—a warning that the administration’s pressure campaign could create new problems even as it attempts to solve old ones."

The absurd degree of "hold my beer" that this administration wades in my be slowly waking up congress a little.

Maybe a little.

Eh, I won't hold my breath.

Here is a link to an article from Murdoch's Wall Street Journal - https://www.wsj.com/economy/central...e?st=LTcivS&reflink=desktopwebshare_permalink

I hope posting it as a "gift article link" gets any non-subscribers past the paywall.

Opening paragraph if you aren't able to open it - "The criminal investigation into Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell isn’t ultimately about the Fed’s headquarters, or Powell, or even interest rates. It’s about power. President Trump intends to take control of the central bank, no matter what the law or the courts say."

At this point, I say let one of the last guardrails on our supposedly strong constitutional democracy fall. Give Trump the reins and let him inflict the maximum damage that his moronic policies inevitably lead to. And then hopefully the hurt is enough that people finally buck up and vote out all the monkeys that refused to do the right thing again and again.

This would require people with mental aptitude to see a direct correlation. It’s not happening.

I predict the market finishes up today
Good bet. Market jumped on Tillis comments. Good to see someone speaking up. Repubs with elections know they are in trouble. They need the MAGA vote but are following a guy with greater than 50% chance of being impeached in 12 months and quickly deteriorating mental facilities. This news was all part of the idea to convince Americans that someone else is to blame for the stagnant economy and “things will get much better soon”, which I hear a lot of these days on the networks.

quickly deteriorating mental facilities.
Hey now - looks like the shoes on the right foot? At least he's an idiot for the world to see and doesnt hide from the media. Id much rather have the media hate the president than love him regardless of whos in office. Media darling presidents make me vomit - and are a detriment to a valuable role of the press to critique politicians moves, motives, and influences.

For the record - I dont like everything or dislike everything this admin has done. Like all things politics if youre not a programmed party loyalist - its a mixed bag.

The fed should be independent - but they were very slow to raise rates under the last admin and are now slow to drop them. I dont view that as the fed being loyal to a party/admin - but i see how it could be misconstrued that way.

But a destructive idiot. That’s the difference.
Fed is independent and any implication that it wasn’t under Biden is nonsense. It can’t do anything fast for fear of market reaction. The irony is the Fed has to work with Treasury in times of emergency (see first half of Biden) and this current “news” is driven by Bessent. He is starving the long end of the curve to try to minimize the focus on the exploding debt. The same thing he accused Yellen of doing.

There should be a percentage for the ability to finish the term from health reasons. It should have applied to Biden too.
I can see this but don't think what's happening is due to health reasons. Trump2 is the same as Trump1...the difference is he tossed all the competent adults out of his administration and we are left with nothing but yes men/women...and some of them are dumber than a box of rocks, and excellent at putting their foot in their mouth. And like their leader, seemingly incapable of admitting a mistake.

I would like to think the Tide is turning...midterms are looking like a bloodbath for republicans probably too late to save them.

I was commenting solely on health, not a performance comment. I don’t think he’s healthy and have serious doubts on him completing the term. Same thought if Biden was reelected.

What do Trump and I have in common? MRIs at Bethesda Naval Hospital/Walter Reed. I was in my 20s, not late 70s.
