I don't know about smarts, but I believe younger gens are lazier....but maybe that makes them smarter? hahaha

I just started this for fun. Always reading about folks dieing on day hikes and everyone commenting on how stupid they are. Life should have some adventure without everyones opinion about how wrong that person was. Sorry if I mumbled and stumbled. Thanks for the corrections of my drunkenness. I am impressed this went five pages, maybe that was my goal all along.:giggle: Will be trolling for kings in the morning, not likes on a thread:D:p Life is allright!

No, we are not stupid. We are a smart hard physical working generation with a lot of common sense. Most of us are to that age of "we don't care" anymore. We keep up somewhat with the techie stuff but then we don't care for the most part. We've seen a lot and done a lot that most will never see or do. The youngsters have a lot more things to make life easy.
So who cares? I really don't anymore and I've never tried to keep up with the Jones.

Will be trolling for kings in the morning,
I don't personally know anyone who died on a solo hunt or hike but I do know two people who died while fishing. Neither one was fishing it solo.

Just sayin'

When I was raising my sons, a perfectly acceptable gift to give a boy was a hatchet. He would open the present and then dad would say, "Now don't chop anything unless I'm there." That always ended up with the predictable result. How all my sons grew up with all their fingers intact, God only knows.
Maybe today's parents are a little smarter in some ways.

I got one for my 10th birthday. I still have it. It's a Estwing with a stacked leather handle. That'll be 25 years ago in January.

Speaking of hatchets and axes, my father was raised in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia. He was several years younger than his brothers. One of his older brothers, bet my father that he would not be quick enough to hit his hand, on the chopping block.

My father took the bet and took off parts of four fingers of his brother's hand. They had a lot of shenanigans growing up. I was pretty tame, comparatively.
