Anyone Use a 350 Legend?

This caliber is several of the somewhat firearms restrictive states in midwest where we routinely hunt deer, so I picked one up to put the shotgun away.
Got a walnut stocked Weatherby Vanguard and put a Leupold 3x9 on it, have yet to fire a round as it's been pretty cold and sh#itty here.

Curious what kind of performance, range and overall satisfaction is with this caliber?

I picked up a Savage Hog Hunter a couple years ago in 350. Killed a couple of deer and a bear with it. Accuracy is great out to around 150 yards, trajectory starts dropping fast after that.
 
I purchased one a few years ago when I moved back to Ohio. I really like mine compared to the shot gun slug. Mine is a 1-1.5" gun with factory, and sub 1" with hand loads. With the woods I hunt, no opportunity at extended ranges, but I have taken several from 40-80 yards with no tracking needed. Buddy has one and has harvested a few out to 150 with his. I have loaned mine out to a number of different youths (factory ammo only) and they have actually harvested more deer with it than I have. I also own a 450 bushmaster and will only use it if the 350 legend is being used by one of the youths.
 
I have a Weatherby vanguard 350 legend. I have shot it a ton and worked up two good loads . The Bear Creek Ballistics 160 shoots well and is sub MOA after a bit of tweaking. However, the Hammer is what I switched to. It shoots sub MOA and has a much better BC. (Lab radar confirmed). I have not shot anything with it yet…except paper.
 
My father picked one up a few years back - a CVA Cascade - and absolutely loves it. He said it’s a tack driver; much like @utah400elk, I don’t think he’s taken any animals with it yet, but he’s very happy with how it shoots. I believe he’s been shooting primarily factory loads thus far but is looking forward to trying some hand loads.
 
they are fine if used within common sense restraints. I would not shoot past 150 yards and blood trails can be an issue.

I wouldn’t have any hesitation to shoot out past 200. 250 with the right ammo is my limit. We practice with factory stuff and shoot the bear creek ammo on critters.
 
I know nothing about hunting in states with straight wall restrictions, but if you told me I had to use a straight wall cartridge for whitetails or black bears I’d get a Marlin 1894 in .44 mag and never give it a second thought.

is there enough energy at 250 to kill a deer? based on the ballistics charts I've seen I wouldn't think so
 
We have one. A CVA single shot. It’s plenty accurate, has mild recoil, and kills game soundly within 100yds. I haven’t seen it used on anything over that distance. My kids use it mostly. If I lived in a straight wall use state I wouldn’t hesitate to use it under 200yds.
 
Yep. I bought a winchester xpr a few years back. Having good luck with it in Ohio.
Despite my initial reservations it kills deer quite dead and quite fast.
Both these bucks were killed at 175 yards plus. Neither got more than 15 yards. Both shot with Winchester Deer Season 150s. I have killed two does at the same yardage as well. IMG_0908.jpegIMG_1491.jpeg
 
It looks like it would be an awesome handgun hunting round. Ballistic equivalent to the .357 Maximum. I've given serious thought to buying the CVA single shot pistol in this caliber. The only thing stopping me is my effort to majorly decrease the amount of stuff I own. I need another pistol like I need a hole in the head.
 
I have a savage 110 hog hunter in 350 legend. I shoot 180 grain winchester power point through it. also tested federal 180 grain power shock. pictures are a 4 shot group at 100 yards. 2 rounds of each. it puts great holes in deer size game.

When illinois started to allow single shot straight wall cartridges our hunting crew all got cva scout 2 rifles in 350 legend. We all shoot barnes tsx bullets. Do not miss shooting slugs at all.

I would sure consider a pistol barrel for my encore if
I was still hunting in close. I just dont think I would shoot it much.
