Last to first in the final stretch. A horse with 24 to 1 odds. Quite a feat. Third place horse odds 70 to 1. Most interesting derby in a long time.

Derby is a big deal around here. The wife was raised in Kentucky, her roots go back to the wilderness trail and Daniel Boone.Not related to him. She worked at Churchill Downs and one of the big horse farms as an exercise rider when she was a teen. Her family has a box about 20 yards past the finish line. We didn’t make it back this year will try for next year. It is a hell of a show.
This years was a hell of a good race.

It’s one of the best horse performances I’ve ever seen.

Perfect storm, clean air in front of horse, no debris in face (big deal), no fighting thru traffic getting bumped, no being restricted altering stride, open road to front on outside. Little more distance but when a horse can breathe clean air, no stride disturbances, open highway in front, they can keep their momentum and actually accelerate over distance. Still impressive showing he can go crank it up when jockey lets him go like that. I was really surprised no one else went outside to do same. Great horse and great ride by jockey!
