Anybody else find this suspicious?

As far as the effectiveness of birdshot (assuming #6), if the cat was coming toward him, a shot to the head/face would certainly prove very effective whereas if the cat was running away (probably what the coyote was doing in the previous reply) it would not be very effective. Birdshot entering the eyes/mouth/nose with a direct path to the brain would kill quickly, especially at the short distance the shot would have occurred. My opinion only, yours may differ.
 
Say what you will, I'm speaking from direct experience with bird shot here. Can you guys say the same? I'm not taking about home defense rounds or buck shot here people, more like 6 shot, which is probably what the guy in the article was using.

Have you ever shot a tree or a board or anything of the like? Even as a kid? At that range...that's a dead cat.
