Any hockey fans out there?

Utah was the first one that came to my mind. And both they and the Blackhawks have Russian front office/scouting ties. Tampa, also, but they are almost up against the cap, so would have to move signficant pieces even with the Cap going up the next 3 years.

Very little info or details out there, but it sure feels like he wants out of MN.
Yesterday Guerin said he didn't know where that info thats out there came from, but it wasn't him or Kiril's agent...casting some doubt on the reports. But subterfuge is not uncommon in these situations.

Not a chance. I would be absolutely shocked if he leaves MN

I agree, but I was shocked Rossi was being shopped. The first 15min of the 32 Thoughts podcast covered the contract. They think it is about money, but I'm not so sure. As a fan, how would you view the news if he signed that $16m contract knowing he has never played 82 games in a season and only 41 last year? and what are you willing to pay him if it is about money for him?

I think all these guys end up with the same team. What we are seeing with the increase cap is signing young guys to long term deals because the UFA market could be expensive. Panthers have shown that depth is key, so having 30% of your cap in two players is questionable.

Blackhawks have more cap space than they know what to do with. They have a different timeline than the Wild and are nowhere near Oilers. Oilers are challenging for a cup, Wild should be very competitive for the next 5 years but need a little more (including KK staying healthy), Hawks are probably 3yrs from even sniffing a wildcard slot. No UFA, even at 27-28 yo, is going to look at Hawks without seeing a huge jump in performance. I almost think that if they start to look good this year I can see them trading veterans to improve lottery odds. A guy like Ilya Mikheyev is exactly what the Wild need.

Have to love the internet for rumors like this to help me through the offseason.

I don't know about that source just like the leak about the report yesterday.

This one is a legit source and nailed every move since the beginning on the Rossi deal.

Don't ruin my fun. Russian sources are the best hockey sources.

It does question where the original info on the contract rejection came from. I'm not sure either side gains from that getting public, if it really happened at all.

Both sides have now confirmed that everything regarding the Thrill contract talks has been just rumors. There was a statement that there hasn't been much talk as his team has been holding just like everyone else to see what type of contract McJesus gets which is sort of funny because his team is wanting to see where the market is at with others below him signing. Someone is gonna have to be the first to sign...

I'm also still waiting to see if Pittsburg is going to trade Crosby. I'd like to see Sid win another cup

First rule of sports media is questioning "why is this person lying to me?"

One of the two sides wanted the story out there about the offer being rejected. It wasn't just fabricated out of no where.

I'd assume that he doesn't want an 8 year contract. I imagine he wants something with less term like a 4 year contract. He'll turn 29 later this season. With a 4 year contract he's back at the negotiating table sooner, to not only get another bite at the apple, but also it gives him an out in MN if he doesn't like the direction the team is going. And Billy G loves giving out No Move Clauses to players, but in this case it would be deserved, so he'd realistically be able to hold the hammer on where he'd be traded to, if he wanted out then.

If 37 year old Brad Marchand can get a 6 year deal at age 37 (apples to oranges comparison in skill and playing style IMO), Kirill will have no shortage of suiters at 33 years old. He's had a few injuries, but I wouldn't call him injury prone by any means. It's a tough game and playing 82 games is something few players are able to do, so I don't knock him too hard for missed games.

Or he just wants out. I wouldn't blame the guy. The first 5 years of his career the team's been saddled by self inflicted cap issues and has underperformed and/or urinated down their legs when it's mattered most. Then when the cap issues are sorted out the biggest move they're able to pull off is 33 year old now washed vagabond Vladimir Tarasenko. Would be hard to object to him wanting to go somewhere else where he can win, and win soon.

I can't argue with that thought and if it makes us Wild fans upset, I can only imagine how it makes the players feel. You had a lot of cap, especially if you want to count in the 5 mil as well that they gave to Rossi and although the FA market wasn't fantastic, there were a lot of suiters out there that they could have got to make their top 6 significantly better. Vlad is a 4.75m hit and they have 4.4m left in cap as it is. Ehlers went for 8.5m. Granlund went for 7m. Brock Nelson 7.5m. Boeser for 7.25m

I keep telling myself that they must be saving cap space for a trade deadline move to pick up somebody for a competitive push at the end?

Maybe I just say that so I don't go insane....😂

if your team picked up one of the team canada players that were on trial, would you be upset?

Heard a reporter say today he thinks it's perfectly explainable why Kap didn't jump at the offer...they want to let McDavid sign first thinking he will set the new standard. Seems like a gamble on McDavids desires to me but makes some sense.

Suuuuure it was. Saying "Nothing to see here. Move along. " is a sure way to get writers interested just as training camps start. He and Geurin will be answering questions on this for weeks.

Yes, but also all those players are suspended until December
yeah, but there's still 2/3 of the season left in december + postseason. Personally, i'd love if the knights took a chance on Hart. They were proven Not Guilty, so they deserve a second chance. I feel bad for them, sounds like some drunk tried to ruin their careers (probably did ruin a couple of theirs) by having morning-after remorse.
