This has been an informative thread fo me. I returned from a snowboarding trip a few weeks ago and started experiencing hip pain that shot down the outside of my thigh shortly after returning home. Doc thought it was hip bursitis and shot me with cortisone. Fast forward 2 weeks, no improvement from the shot. I was gimping around but functional at least. I delivered some lumber to one of my crews and helped out at my daughter’s soccer practice. That night I woke up at 2 AM with the worst pain of my life shooting from my hip down through my calf/shin. It literally brought me to tears which was a first for me in the pain department. ER said my x-ray showed probable L4/L5/S1 spinal degeneration (MRI tomorrow). Meanwhile I’m bedridden. I can’t sit, stand or walk for more than 30 seconds before the level 10 pain grabs hold. It’s a scary spot to be in for a fit, healthy, 43 year old. Hopefully the MRI reveals something that can start me down a treatment path, because I’ve seen no improvement from anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxers, and bed rest ( like I even have a choice). Thanks for listening, this effing sucks especially since it’s opening weekend for turkeys here, and we are supposed to take my daughter on a Disney cruise in about 10 days.
