I'm checking in from the lobby of the Pueblo, Co. Windham.
We saw about a thousand lopes along the rail road track in southern Co and northern New Mexico, along with a herd, maybe 70 elk along the river bottem just south of Raton, NM.
The Amtrak ride was great, except for trying to keep a six year old contained on a train is kind of like driving a top fuel dragster on a four wheel drive trail.

In FY 2006, Amtrak earned approximately $2.05 billion in revenue and incurred approximately $3.07 billion in expenses, covering 67% of its operating costs. Excluding depreciation, a non-cash cost, Amtrak covered 80% of its operating costs. No country in the world operates a passenger rail system without some form of public support for capital costs and/or operating expenses.

...it's Bush's fault.
