Well a pard of mine is pretty nuts when it comes to hunting and I'm almost as nuts as I let him talk me into going with him. :p I've only started spending much time bird hunting the last few years and this seemed like a fun trip. We spent this past weekend in the Ruby Mtns of NV chasing Himalayan snowcocks. Nothing like packing a scattergun to the roof of the (local) world to try to shoot a bird! The bird is sorta like a chicken sized chukar that lives with the mountain goats in the rocks/cliffs at the tops of the mountains. We hiked in on Fri. evening hunted to set up camp and then climbed the rocks/cliffs above camp both Sat. and Sun chasing the elusive, barely existent bird! We did find two, but neither presented a shot and heard a few more. Lots of sign was in the basins that we hunted, just didn't find the covey this year. Definitely will be going again!

Though we didn't get any, btw there's usually less than 10/yr killed and my pard had killed 2 each of the last two yrs, we did have a good time in some spectacular country.

Here's the approach to camp

All in all it was a good weekend (and not because we visited Joe's Dancing and Diddling Club in Elko) and one that I suggest to others looking for a fun hunt! I'll definitely be back!

I also get red x's, unless I copy and paste the address from the properties. Kodak blows, don't make me work so hard.:D

I see them. Many thanks. Awesome country.

My buddy in Reno drew a goat tag in the Rubies this year. He reported many birds, but he didn't bring his scattergun.

There are definitely plenty of goats in those hills! We did find a couple of respectable billies in the area we were looking for birds in.

If you decide to head that way next year let me know.

Found out a different co-workers friends went up last weekend to a different area and all three folks limited out!!!!!! I think I am definitely bad luck...
