The wife and I went out bear hunting this evening and while heading to a new location almost ran this guy over with the truck. After I got stopped he was just up the bank like twenty yards and stuck around for a long time before finally cresting onto the bench. By far my closest encounter with these in the woods. I was just wishing it was in season, almost made it an unofficial one, but have a conscience.
The first pic is from my truck with no zoom, he is right in the middle of the pic.

Awesome.

Hopefully you wont have to wait to long and you can get him.

That does look like a really big one.
We're gonna take a couple out of that drainage this fall for sure.

I'm thinking it shouldn't be to hard, I'm gonna put most of my early season effort into getting one I think. I Even have the perfect gun picked out:D

Not very many are gonna stand there like that when you have a tag in your pocket.

One did two years ago about a mile from this picture, I think four days after the quota was met. Of course when the season was open though I heard them every morning, but couldn't get one in the scope. Get getting distracted by elk instead of looking harder. Kicking myself now.

They don't act like that in Alaska. I was discussing this with my brother who lives up there. I also mentioned about the recent griz mauling we had down here as well. He just doesn't hear about that many bear problems and wolves acting like domestic dogs up there. It will change in a hurry once we start shooting at them. I just hope I'm one of the lucky ones to get a dumb one first.
