My youngest daughter (13 YO), my Dad and I made another venture to our elk hunting spot this weekend.

I shot a decent bull there last weekend and saw a few other bulls so we went back to the same area in hopes we could find one for Ally or my Dad.

Ally missed out last weekend because she was sick and I teased her all week about missing her chance so she was raring to go.

We hiked in a mile or so on Friday night to a nice meadow the elk like to frequent and didn't see anything and the wind was blowing like holy heck.

Even though we didn't see anything we decided to hit the same spot Saturday morning in hopes that they had moved in.

As it got light, we spotted a small herd already headed into the timber but hustled down to the edge of the meadow to see if anything was still feeding in the open.

BINGO, there was a herd of about 20 or so with three small bulls and the rest cows and calves. In true Grandfather-like fashion, my Dad deferred to Ally and let her shoot.

We zeroed in on one of the bulls that was feeding by himself and Ally drilled him through the top of the heart at about 200 yards using her .280 Remington shooting 150 gr. Nolser Partitions.

Not a big bull but it was Ally's first bull (she shot two cows last year) and she (and her grandfather and I) was very excited.

I've been blessed to have some pretty dang good days and good luck in the outdoors with my two daughters this year.

Very Very Cool!! Congrats to you guys!

My 12 yr old missed a decent buck this weekend at 60 yards! She is pretty dang broke up over it, but she'll get another chance!

Congrats to you, your daughter and father. You've had quite the year with your daughters. Do you need to buy a freezer, or two?;)

We have two but both are getting to that "full" stage.

We've had several people request an elk for themselves so we're going to keep on hunting and if folks can use the meat it gives me a heck of an excuse to keep hunting with the girls.

And I really hate that........:D

Congrats I hope when my daughter is old enough to hunt that she is as into it as your daughters seems to be. Way to go.

That's awesome. Love it when the kids can produce...just builds their confidence that much more. Congrats!

Congrats to all three of you. That last photo is certainly wall worthy!

She's having a great season...
Congrats, that's awesome you're able to get her out and on animals like that.

Great photos. You've had a banner year. Wanna try and do an arranged marriage? I have a 13 year old whos dad would love a connection to your hunting spots. Congrats again.
