Does it help a toothache? :( How should it be applied? Topically or ingested?:rolleyes::W:

I have had luck with crushing a few aspirin, mixing with water and swishing around your mouth. aside from that...dentist

I had a molar abcess once when I was many miles out to sea on a 3 day fishing trip. The only thing that helped was to ingest mass quantities of alcohol.

How to pull a tooth at home

Best Answer - Chosen by Voters
If the tooth is dead and ready to fall out, you could pull it out at home ( I caution you to be careful though because if it's still living and just rotting or loose you could have a LOT of pain in store because of an exposed nerve).

Now, if you do decide to pull it, the tool to use depends on which tooth it is. If it's one of the bigger teeth in back, you can probably use a regular pliers - more surface area to get a good grip. If it's a smaller tooth, use the needle nose to get a good grip (make sure you have a good grip on the RIGHT tooth before you yank too!!).

I've done it. A couple years ago with a tooth that was dead. There was little to no pain once I got it out. I use a regular pliers because it was a large tooth and I was able to get a good grip on it that way.

CAUTION: Have a bottle of your favorite hard liquor, some ambisol (not sure how to spell it), and a person you trust to stay calm standing by just in case something goes wrong.

GOOD LUCK!

Determine the looseness the tooth. If the tooth is not loose at all, you are in for an extremely difficult extraction; it would be best in this situation to call the dentist. If the tooth is loose--especially if it's dangling--you will have a greater chance of pulling it successfully with minimum pain. Baby teeth and teeth that are loose due to gum disease are easiest to extract.

2
Brush your teeth to make sure any extra food particles are out of the way. If you are not able to do this, swish water in your mouth and spit it back out a few times.

3
Grasp the tooth by using a small square of gauze. Pull firmly. If the tooth does not come out fairly quickly, you may want to stop this process and seek a dentist's help. Continuing to pull on a firmly embedded tooth may aggravate it and cause you a considerable amount of pain.

4
Rinse and spit a few more times once the tooth is out. Hold a clean piece of gauze next to the gum where the tooth came out for a few minutes to help stop the bleeding. If the bleeding continues, is very heavy, or if you have significant pain, call a dentist. Otherwise, you can treat the soreness with over-the-counter medication.

5
Monitor your mouth and body for signs of infection. If you notice redness and swelling at the site of extraction, if there is a foul smell or pus in or near the tooth cavity or if you generally feel bad and have a fever, call a dentist. If infection begins, make sure you receive any necessary antibiotics so your condition doesn't worsen.

Thanks Dink, but I don't see alcohol anywhere in that second one. Surely the process must involve alcohol somewhere. Heck, my wife is a nurse and she told me to have a drink last night. Maybe it was just to get me to stop whining.

The dentist made a last ditch effort this morning. If not better next week....root canal! :hump:

Don't be a pussy. I pulled one of my own teeth when I was about 10 or 11. Used regular pliers... the grinding action between the tooth and the 'tracktion' ridges on the pliers is the worst part. To get mentally prepared, I recomend chewing a mouth full of gravel.

We all pulled our own teeth out when we were 10 or 11. You want to impress me? Tie a rocket to one of your central incisors today. :D

Nope... draftstud's video was enough to simply follow your NURSE'S advise! Be it a wife pissed at your whining or not...

Hell, I have not had a lick of any alcohol sich March 25th... nor a dip! A buddy showed up while I was in inpatient rehab and had the audacity to take a cope dip in front of me... Mind ya, my can usually drys out with 1/4 remaining though that smell...

Anyhow, I took an offered dip and about 3-5 minutes (if that) tossed it out and I was crying like a school girl to my nurse and spilled the beans. she laughed... smiled at me asked if I spit it out, which I quickly nodded my head and she walked away continuing to laugh all the way to the nurses station where more laughter began...

Drink up Mr. Oak! Wife's advise - You know the saying, "Happy wife, Happy life!"

Tooth pain .....all kidding aside use Ambesol...I know its for kids but swoosh some of that on the tooth and you should be ok for a while....that and some advil

Best would be an NSAID such as ibuprofen but SDHNTR has the second best option! Ambesol might help if you can get it to the nerve but follow your wife's advise, over and over and......!
