ACA and The New Exchanges

Way too many variables to make a blanket statement like that. EVERYONE will be different
I gather that you are in the insurance business but with a few exceptions that is just how it will work. Everyone (of the same age) pays the same so people who the insurance company formally felt are in good health will pay more, people who they felt were in bad health will pay less*. Note I said how the insurance companies rates your health - they have never met you. Throw in the tax credit and people with low incomes will pay even less given the subsidy. Like Sweetnectar, I'm not sure I like that much of a subsidy since it comes from new taxes but many people are complaining that their rates are going up when they are in fact going down.

I am not entirely sure how this works for supplemental insurance for medicare so if you have any info there I'm sure a lot here would appreciate it.

*ok, the fact that people have to buy coverage they may have not previously had skews this some.

SO far, I don't qualify for the subsidy, nor are my rates going up. The company provides 100% of my insurance though (and my wife's) so we get to write it off but still, I want my obama-phone.

Great for you. The majority of people are having rate increases due to Obamacare.

Ask your friends, neighbors, employers, read the internet, and basically just use common sense.

None of these people have mentioned an increase because of all this.

Things I have seen. We only had a 4% increase at our renewal last June. Prior years it was 10-15%.

I've seen 2 checks come back to the company for the 80/20 rebates. I've seen a few checks for the 80/20 rebates go to a few employees.

Who do you think is going to be paying the extra cost that the insurers have?

Despite popular belief, there is no money tree.

Or smart enough not to get riled up by someone who never supplies facts or answers but replies with only further questions.

I can't link to common sense.

Someone has to pay and most people will not qualify for the subsidies because they don't qualify for the exchange.

It’s not clear how many Americans have secured new health insurance through Obamacare — the federal government won’t disclose initial figures until November. But some states have released preliminary numbers and a look at the early statistics shows that the vast majority of people who have managed to navigate the sign-up process in some states have enrolled in Medicaid, not private health plans.

Rack have you ever been over to 24 Hour Campfire? I am thinking you would find it kinda homey.
