Since many guys seem to be back from the field, what predicates your decision to terminate a hunt, aside from caring for game or vocational responsibilities?

...so much for the succinct macho answer...how about some from the mere mortals?

I've been known to run back into town if there is a good game on, or if friends are having a BBQ. But that serves only as an intermission to the hunt.
Terminating a hunt would take something more drastic; say, loss of a limb or civil insurrection.

Are you saying in miller language, "Why do I stop hunting other than having to take dead critters home or the boss threatens to fire me if I don't show up?":D

Not sure what "terminate" is referring to, but if it means to "call it a season", then I agree 100% with Oak and Buzz.

If it refers to an outing, then lots of things. Could be weather, other commitments or as the case last weekend for me; shot at and missed the buck I wanted and decided it would be better to let him relax for a week before trying to get on him again.

all the above translation=

wife says time is up.

Depends on what hunt it is. On most draw tags I'll try to take the whole hunt off (only got to hunt 8 of the 14 days on this last lope hunt). On the OTC tags I'll usually make several short trips, 1-3 days. I spend a lot of time scouting elk in the late Summer, even though I usually don't have a tag:(

I spend as much time out as I can possibly get away with; between my family and my biz commitments.

Ok, I assumed you meant "terminate a season." I thought "family" was one of your exceptions in the original post. I would end a hunt for a family emergency, but I'm not sure why anyone would just say, "ok, I've had enough hunting for this season," and go home. I might pass up going on a doe hunt or something, but I won't give up on a buck/bull hunt. I had a doe antelope tag last year that I never bothered trying to fill. The hunt area was 180 miles away, and I had buck deer and antelope tags in WY at the same time.

It only comes around once a year. My original answer was sincere, not facetious. Maybe I don't understand the question.
