Yes, he's a feral hog, he was out free roaming. The Spanish dropped hogs off here hundreds of years ago, now we have a population of about 1 million or more, I've heard, in the state. I've hunted this place maybe about 30 days total and shot several deer, and seen hog sign but not got one and only had seen them a few times, because they are more nocturnal than the deer. Now that deer season is over, I concentrated on getting a hog. They had a lot of rooting around the area lately and I conected with this. I'm happy with him. Although, I've shot a bunch of them in the past, I never got one shoulder mounted. They are all ugly, he's ugly too, so he qualifies for a shoulder mount. haha

Cali, I know you're a reloading guy so I'll try to be informative. .308 30 CAL 180 GR Boat Tail Spire Point with the secant ogive factory Hornady light magnum ammo. How do I figure out what powder and how much they put in that thing? It did not exit, I don't think, but it broke his left leg/shoulder and messed up a good part of his heart and made it back to the gut a little. It was a good place to hit him with that as he went down close by. I don't like it when a hog runs off in the dark, so I put the crosshairs on his shoulder and he was kind of quartered with his rear away so it went right into his vitals.

I'm thinking that hog is going to taste pretty good, way better than a ram.
