7-08 hunting loads

I don't have a 7-08, probly never will. Buzz has good stuff. Other than that I would pick a Hamner and make it go as fast as you can. mtmuley

If you can get a hold of some Ramshot Big game, that is the stuff for a 7-08. My best load, fast and very accurate, is Biggame behind 139gn Hornady Interbonds. Does real good things with 140gn Nosler Accubonds as well.

Bear in mind, mtmuley shoots RUMs.
It's hard NOT to shoot a bullet fast from one of those! :geek:

gun UPR10 708, 47.6gr StaBALL 6.5, 139gr btsp hornady , star line small rifle brass (308)
remmington 7 1/2 primers ,eric cortina tuner brake ,5/16 grouping @100 yd.
this gun does equally as well with imr 4451 same loading

Wow, so many to choose from.

150 Nosler BT, 40.5 gr RL-15 at 2650fps. Used it for years only because I had a boat load of bullets on hand when I switched to the 7/08.

140Nosler BT/AB, 42.5grs Varget at 2760.

120 TTSX, 43.5gr RL-15 at 2915.

They all group around 1 MOA, or less, and I've never had to take a second shot!

120 TTSX

Not worked up as much as many here do but it has killed animals well to 300 yards.

Have a Rem Mountain rifle with a leopold 2-7. Not to light, just right. Enjoy carrying it.

131gr Hammer Hunter over 47.1gr of RL-16 is giving me an even 3000 fps. Hornady brass and CCI #34 primers.

Revive this thread for anyone searching in the future.

I tried Big Game and CFE223. Both shot a 140g above 2900 with the CFE getting up to 2970 out of a 24” barrel. CFE had a bigger ES so I run Big Game.

47.1g BG 140 Nosler BT Fed 210m @2900
48.4 BG 139 Barnes LRX Fed 210m
@ 2913

Both are under a MOA at 100. I haven’t fine tuned seating depth due to a crappy 7x optic on it for testing.

CFE223 has swung bad for me in temp changes too.

I worked up based on @brockel’s info. I’m using H4895 & 215’s pushing 131HH’s. I found a nice node at 41grains. 3080fps and ES of 8 in a 22" barrel, shooting .508 moa.

Gosh, that's been a tough powder to find lately... Crossing my fingers I find some soon, as I use it in two rifles.
