300 win mag v 300 wsm

found this useful bit of info on the net
using the old 3006 as the base we find that
300 win mag uses 37 percent more powder for a 13 percent gain,,its called diminishing return

300 wsm uses 14 percent more powder for an 11 percent gain,on average it does this using 14 less grains of powder than the win mag

why does the human race still get up in the morning and argue facts

why does the human race still get up in the morning and believe in a god

wth, whats your point? should we all be shooting 06's and changing our views of religion? From what I read, my 300wm still kicks butt and I do not mind buying a little more powder. My religion is mine and doesn't enter into the equation. People do like to argue, its in their nature and why we have debate in schools. I don't think I would shoot a Kiwi with any of the aforementioned calibers.

No matter what, more powder pushes heavy bullets faster, and more importantly it keeps them going faster over a longer distance.
Those percentage gains will differ a lot more at 500+ yards.
The 300 woman can't compete with the .300 Winchester Magnum in the real world of energy on target. Especially with 200gr. high bc bullets.
The powder capacity of the woman just can't push those heavies well enough.
Still a great cartridge in a lighter weight rifle compared to the recoil of the win mag.
But there are limitations to using a light rifle. Just have to match the tool for the job.
That's why we have hammers in lots of different sizes.

And the 6.5 CM out shines them all. Just look on any forum.
Pretty much anything in the last 20 years has been a solution looking for a problem.

Everyone knows Jesus shot a 7rm with 168 vlds. At the end of the 6th day god shot a bull with his 300 wm and had to rest on the 7th cause his shoulder hurt and some of his teeth fell out. On the 8th day god created the 7rm for his son and the rest of us believers.

Guess I know who is responsible for the RUM. mtmuley

this from a load data page
will use the speer 165 gr sp across the board

300 rum rl 25 ,,97 gr=3279fps
300 wtby mag rl 25,,89.0C gr=3258
30-378wtby rl19,,103 gr=3285
300 win mag rl 17,,72.5gr=3202
300 h&h rl 19,,67 gr=3048
300wsm rl 17,,68 gr=3217

looking from top to bottom the 300 rum is using 29 more gr to achieve 61 fps seconds advantage over the 300wsm
what im saying is that the manufacturers are pulling the wool over peoples eyes by bringing out all the latest bells n whistles
go for it

I don't know where you found that info, but it ain't right. mtmuley

300 win mag does the job just fine...If it ain’t broke, why fix it?

Muzzle breaks are for wimps...Get a stock that fits with a good recoil pad and be done with it.

Someone pulled wool over your eyes with that data. Hint, A RUM making only 61 FPS more than a WSM with the same bullet is either using a powder that performs poorly in the application, running at drastically lower chamber pressures, or both. The same is true for a WM going slower than a WSM with the same bullet.

Physics are physics. No free lunch. Bigger cases are less efficient but bigger is still going to be capable of shooting the same bullet faster at the same chamber pressures with powders appropriately matched to the occasion.

I’ve got a .300 WSM, a .300 Win, a .308, and just ordered a 7mm-08 so I’d say I’m covered. Just an observation but those that don’t believe, and don’t want you to believe in God, sure do mention His name a lot.

Is there really anything to be arguing about?

Let people shoot what they want...nobody cares and nearly ANY bullet planted where it needs to go means the same thing.

I'm wayyyyy more concerned about the pack, game bags, and knives I use than what rifle I'm packing.

I must admit i have seen lots of data published that shows velocity at completely wrong numbers for many cartridges.
I only believe what my chrono shows me.
Rifles will certainly differ from one to another, but shouldnt be 250-300fps difference, as i have seen lots of times compared to published data.
