.270 or 30-06?

I rebarreled my 30'06 to 270. I've thought about switching it back to shoot slightly larger diameter bullets of the 30'06, but it's not really worth the work. Either will work fine.

I own both. If using for just deer sized game and smaller then stick with the .270. If you want to consider an occasional elk then it’s probably a toss up. If elk is regularly hunted then I would feel more comfortable with the heavier bullet of a 30-06. A lot of it is picking nits, though. As I said, I own both

Either will work. I've come back to a 30-06. If you handload, with today's powders its better than it has ever been. In my opinion, one of the most versatile cartridges ever designed.

Have both, When it comes to reloading, the 06 seems to be the most versatile cartridge available. Love it.

I always end up in the field with the .308win though.

I like the 30-06, haven't shot it in a few years. Just loads of time in the mountains hunting along with Dad when he carried a 1903 Springfield that he bought from a catalog for $18.88 in about 1960 or so. Don't know where that gun is now.
