IMO, a .270 is fine for elk. Use a sturdy 150 grain bullet for all the animals you listed & keep the same POA.
What noharley said.
Punch em through the lungs, and the'll tip over dead.
Use 150 partitions, or similar and you won't have any problems..
.270 is pretty common for Texans and Californians.... Don't see it used much by people that actually hunt elk and live where the elk do.... Kind of like those 2-wheel drive Suburbans that Texans buy.....
I hunt elk with a .338 or a bow, and drive a 4X4 you sissy :hump:.270 is pretty common for Texans and Californians......
Once I watched a friend shoot an elk with a 270...it got hit 12 times before it died. Yikes! Now that said I've also watched a kid drop a nice bull with 2 hits from a 270 both in the lungs at 100 yards. 270's work but they start sucking at longer distances.
I'm with Jose..270's are like 2 wheel drive. Why not have 4 wheel drive?
