I was wondering if anyone has loaded these 140 using either H4831sc or W760 powders? I am using an old Ruger M77 with a 22" barrel and what speeds you getting. Have tried IMR 44831 and RL 15 but there speeds seem to be lower. Thanks for any help. PM me if you want...Tom

Varget will give you decent accuracy, but the case volume and the burn rate keeps the velocity down.
Ditto the W760.

You're getting closer with the 4831 powders.
Just remember that the 3 different manufacturers burn at different rates.

Myself, I'm running the 140gr Ballistic Tip over a charge of either RL22 or Ramshot MRP.
(Essentially the same)

I get 2950 or so with H4831. If you can get some RL22 or 23 they’re great .270 powders. I get 3050 with 140s with RL23 in a 24” barrrel.

I love those powders but this seems slow for a 270. I don’t load for it but do load a 280. That uses the same powders to push a 160 accubond that fast.

6.5 Creedmoor or 7mm08 with the 140 are topping near there. That 270 case has quite a bit more capacity.

Have you reached pressure on these?

The 4831 has just always been a little slow in my rifle, I don’t know why. 3060 with 130s is pretty much the standard, so I’m very happy with the RL23 velocities. I’ve reached up to a little over 3000 with 150s and RL23, but backed it off a bit as I was starting to get pressure.
