I talked with one of the guy's at elephant mountain who's involved with the bighorn program. Said surveys were low and they cut that tag. But are still offering one through the big time Texas hunts grand slam raffle.

It’s wild how few opportunities are offered in some kind of public drawing. I know it’s Texas and everything, but wow.

I’m not going to be able to hunt much do to my recent back surgery…so won’t be able to put I for the early hunts
Will be putting in for the later ones for me n my grandkids. I would like to put in for my usuals for points but it would be just my luck I get drawn for pronghorn n can’t go!!

Yea, that one is like winning the Lotto. Good luck on the upcoming draws. Looks like you and I have somewhat of a chance on the pronghorn, although I wouldn't be packing up the truck quite yet.

I honestly think that draw odds would be impossible to accurately calculate. With the cubed points system especially, you just don't know how many actual entries would be in a particular drawing. I believe that the best one can do is divide the number of open spots to the number of last year's applicants. It won't be correct, but it may give you an idea of which hunts are long shots and which ones you have a better chance at getting drawn.

Fun little fact. Even though it's not listed on the draw hunt if you get drawn for elephant mountain javelina you get a either sex elk tag as well. Now it's not gonna be the same as being fully guided and having the place to yourself but the odds are much better.
