2025 Wy draw

Find out soon if more are going to get back in on the "special"
I threw caution and dollars to the wind and put in special this year. Somebody says I'll probably run out of years before dollars. I had high hopes for a MT elk limited unit this year and was unlucky in that draw. Hopefully WY treats me better.

The draw odds will be interesting. I don’t think the special draw will make enough of a difference for 2/3rds of the units. If you actually run the numbers, very few tags make it to the NR special in top units. Fewer make it to the random NR special. Anyone just wanting a tag can pick a low access unit in the special with zero points.

I'm always more curious about those that have a lot of points and don't apply, but just buy another point. The group point average theory is interesting and explains some but certainly not all of it.

I can give you my insight. I apply for tags all over the west and go on some hunts with forethought and planning years in advance that don’t take points. I’m not a rich man and do have a limit to vacation time and do want to keep my wife of almost 30 years so I can typically only do one or two hunts per fall. With Wyoming being the last deadline, my days are often all spoken for by the time pronghorn deadline comes due. Now I have a large pile of points so will wait and hope for another year or two of decent winter and use those points for one of the famous “Red Desert” units or something that I’ve spent some time looking over myself the year prior.

I applied for a unit that has big bucks and awesome country and went special price. At this point, with buying fancy wedding ring, a new bow, 2 Schmidt rifles scopes, a new .22 with suppressor, and a 25 day stint for an Airbnb in Arizona, all in the last 2 months - I’m praying for that $1200 refund. I’m 95% sure I’ll just get another point.

I'd like to draw a pronghorn license this year, haven't drawn in 2 years. A LQ elk license would be nice too but we'll probably be going the general route this year on deer and elk.

Good luck folks, thankfully the wait is not too long on results.

So question June 19th is a Federal holiday. Will we still see results that day or early this year? What's everyone's thoughts.

Looks like State of Wyoming employees do not have off on June 19th. Although I would like the results early, seems like it will be the 19th.

We should probably recognize June 19th for more than Wyoming Draw Results Day, but I recognize that Juneteenth hasn't gained popularity amongst certain demographics like National Garfield the Cat Day or International Sauntering Day.
