2025 South Dakota Deer Draw

Well this WAS supposed to be the first year of actually filling out a deer app in South Dakota for BHD and WRD after a decade of just collecting points due to always having a full fall of hunts lined up by the time this deadline hit. Not this year.

Went in this afternoon to apply knowing the deadline was today and was in for quite the surprise when I couldn't do it. Who would have thought to check and pay attention to the 8am deadline today? Whoops!

Yup and it sucks too because with 10 points, my wife and I had a pretty good chance of landing the unit we wanted (which is one of the higher demand ones).

It is pure stupidity and bureaucracy why results aren't posted within 5 business days after a deadline. I give them 5 only because some human double checking of results should be done

The same story for me the last few years I intend to apply for a BH whitetail tag. But by the time it rolls around to apply I've already got a tag or two in my pocket and a lack of time. So I apply any deer and grab a point I'm up to 8 now. One day I'm gonna hunt SD!
