I'm elk hunting the rut in New Mexico this fall!

If you are a non-resident, the odds are....you won't draw. <1% to maybe 3 percent chance to draw on even decent tags.

Good thing they have other ways to hunt NM, if you really want to

1st choice for cow elk, 4 for 4 but not 3rd choice. Never drew a 1st in NM.
14 for 20 on elk in NM in 25 years.

Was secretly hoping the call from NM Game and Fish I got a week or two back was a good sign for my son (i fat fingered his birthday year when created his account). "Nope, he's 12, not 2, my bad!!" The mistake was not caught a year ago, so I was hoping they were auditing successful apps. Life is hard as a chronic overthinker.

I managed to draw my first choice deer tag (rifle) and second choice elk (1st season archery).
My son drew both first choices of deer and elk (both rifle).

Hey guys my wife got her third elk tag in a row. She used my 270 for the first one and a muzzleloader last year. Do you think her 6.5 creedmore would be ok if we keep shots under 700 yards?
