2020 Spring Bears Thread

Each year @MT.PERCHMAN has begun the spring season with a bear hunt thread which I have thoroughly enjoyed, and have participated in as well. I havent seen or heard from him lately on the forums so I wanted to get one going. It's a fun way to see what's going on around in different states or Montana, we even have some of Canada's finest chiming in which is awesome
First off wherever Perch is I hope he is well I know he's battled some things over the years medically so I hope he is doing OK and he chimes in as well.....
Second good luck to all and be safe out there share your experiences good bad and ugly. Even if a bear day turns into a Morrell fest let's see some pics.... I personally haven't been yet had a great buddy connect on a solid Beartooth Blackie last night to kick off 2020. Looking forward to seeing your adventures!

Went out for a few hours today but didn't see any tracks or any sign, still a little to much snow up here

Won't be going until the end of the month to start baiting but I am pretty excited. If all goes well I should be in the stand the first weekend of May!!! They've raised the quota to two bears in my zone so I am pumped!!!

I was out all day on Sunday. Didn't see any bears but it was great to be out. I might just figure this bear hunting thing out eventually.

Tried to get to a spot yesterday afternoon, Road was not passable, still a bunch of snow, which is very good. Season in MT is long, no doubt I’ll be hunting soon.

Lots of snow up high still, but since my trip home for Montana bears was cancelled I am making due and getting some snowshoe miles in. There’s at least a few spots clearing of snow to glass.

Son and I went for a few days last week. Saw 5 bears but no shot opportunities. Will try again in a couple weeks hopefully.

Went out last night and had one feeding at 100 yards off the trail. Around 5200 for elevation.

My hunting partner and I drew the 22-1 tag in ID this year. We hunted 3 days last weekend but access was pretty tough, and lower elevations were stacked up with turkey hunters. We saw a decent sized sow and her cub, but that’s it. We’ve got areas we know hold big bears, but until the snow clears out more, it’s an access game. I have kitchen passes for May, so hopefully I can get the job done before time runs out on the 22nd.

I had last week off but focused on honey-do's for the most part. The day I did get back to where I had scouted there was still a lot of snow.

Harvested this guy on the 16th here in Idaho...I hunted hard for 4 days and then the sun caught his hair shimmering about 800 yards out as he was feeding. I checked the wind and scrambled within range and harvested him with one shot with my .308
