Thats awesome, congrats on the buck. For some reason that isn't quite what I picture when I think of coues deer country (too many trees perhaps). Anyways I think hunting them in that country would be way more fun than the typical dry desert coues hunt.

Tone...you're right it isn't typical coues country you see in AZ. In NM half of our coues population live in the ponserosas and oak brush, which makes it a little easier to hunt with a bow. Those bowhunters that consistantly take coues in the desert with a bow, are bad asses .

How hard is it to get a tag to hunt them in an area like that with a bow? I'm sure its not OTC, is it? Killing any deer with a bow in wide open desert is pretty bad ass IMO.

I got one of the left over tags for unit 24. Most locals don't hunt coues deer, much less with a bow. To answer your question it's not that hard, except for unit 23 Burro mountains.
