1934 License Tag

Just a little history on how hunting tags used to be back in the day. Found this post about a 1934 tag. The cost of the tag was quite cheap. For a measly five bucks you could get a trifecta consisting of a deer, elk, and mountain sheep tag. And you got to go fishing on top of it all. Gives new meaning to inflation of prices on license tags.

Yah, LOL. If I remember my history right, wages were around a quarter an hour.

Back then the fine for hunting or fishing without a license I think was 10 bucks. Many never bothered with getting a license back then and took their chances. I know when my dad was growing up in the 30s and 40s, he rarely went a week without going out and getting a deer or antelope for food. For those on the farms, wild game was survival between harvest season. The game warden used to tell my dad where he was a herd and he would tell my dad that "he was going to be in town for several hours". My uncle once had the garage wide open with a deer hanging and a game warden comes up to visit. They never messed with people hunting for survival back then.
