I'm glad these are few, and far between....but it still tightens my sphincter every time some numb nut tries to exploit an otherwise free exchange forum, for their personal gain.

I cringe every time I see the OP posts like this. Is he being stupid? Or, is a one time post worth the ban!

I also think some of these posts are innocent mistakes, but wrong.

I would universally ban all OP who break the rules. Solves the problem, without worrying if they are nice people,

Of course, I do not have anything to sell.

Some are innocent mistakes and I try to be open to that possibility. Some are not innocent, as they make a habit of going to all of the forums and doing the same thing. I have a lot less tolerance for those instances.

In this case, I suspect it is ignorance of the rules agreed to when registering. Someone renting a cabin in PA is not competing with one of our sponsors, so I have just posted a reminder to the OP.

I think you are correct, in that I should probably adopt the same rule as most other forums - Ban those who break this rule and don't worry about if they are nice people. That would be a much easier process. But, I am the optimist who thinks all can contribute something beneficial to the discussion, so I go about it differently.

Heck, BF may be busy crunching numbers trying to figure out how to go on a $2000 turkey hunt!

Nah, I opened this tread earlier and was wondering how fast BF would jump in and make the necessary corrections...which wasn't too long!

I see this kind of violation on websites I frequent on a pretty regular basis because I don't think people have any idea there are rules on sites, especially ones not allowing advertising. One site I'm on has a huge free Classified Section and people still violate the site rules and put stuff right in the open forums and they get moved as soon as a Moderator sees them. The OP in this case made the same post in three different forums and IMHO he should have known that isn't kosher on any site due to spamming rules.

I think more times than not, the op knows the rules, but knowing that there is nothing to lose since they're not a long time member, just post an advertisement and hope they'll have a taker to two before anyone calls them out on it. Almost worth the free gamble.

Yea, you're probably right and I guess there may be more people out there in society that knowingly cheat than I'd like to think there is!
