My 15 year old Kid had a fair to middlin season.
Glad he took me along for the ride.

We started the season as usual with January steelhead fishing.

April brought the echos of rutting spring gobblers.
Thomas nearly won the local big tom contest with his huge archery tom.

With turkey season over we got in some local bass fishing.
The kid can put it to the green carp as well....

After a long bowseason, the coastal blacktail rifle season opens.
Thomas breaks the ice with a 4x3 buck with an unusal little droptine.
Nice.

September came and with it cooler temps and the Blacktail pre rut.
On a cool autumn evening a piercing rifle shot cracks the still evening air and My son puts the smackdown on one incredible trophy Blacktail.
Wow!

Our Wyoming hunt began with fresh snow and a very long hike.

The evening before the opener, I spotted a nice buck feeding on a distant ridge, Thomas took one look and said "I want THAT ONE".

After a restless night, opening morning dawned.
Two other groups of hunters were working the very ridge we were busy glassing.

We saw several elk on a distant ridge, but were very disheartened as we never laid eyes on "our buck".

Day two, The boy finds his buck and makes a perfect shot and the party begins.

7x7 with 4" browtines.
Nice.

After filling his Muley tag, we continued hunting elk and passing up lesser bulls for the next six days.
I just never found a wall worthy bull and I eventually passed on a 5x5 on the last evening in the high country.

We got a room, charged up our batteries and went looking for a place to fill my son's antelope tag.

We spotted a distant herd, Thomas committed himself and the long belly crawl was on.

I stayed back and watched the whole thing unfold from about 3/4 mile away with my well worn Swarovskis.
A distant "pop" then the upraised arms.
I don my pack and trek off to meet my successful young man.
Another fine trophy.

In all actuallity, my son had a completley unfair advantage over most other sportsmen on all of these adventures.
He had the best possible guide available.....
