...all I got were a few pieces of paper. Good news, I now have some hunting tags for MT. Bear, elk, deer, pronghorn, waterfowl, fishes, birds, archery....

Yep, now to draw my MT sheep tag. Pretty much a gimmee since I am max points.;) :D

Whatever you say there mtmiller, I agree, just to break the 100% dissagreement record. I reserve the right to change my mind on this too.

Like what's the ...? I don't know if I can go along with that part.

I am not completely sure i know what you are talking about...

I feel your pain. That is all we get is 5 tags for big game for that 130.00. Gonna price us out pretty soon. Oh yeah another 14.00 for two turkey tags when will it end???????:D :D

I agree with you guys. $130 to spend 40 days fishing and 60 days hunting is getting out of hand. Better call my legislator, or maybe even spend $100 going to Helena to bitch to the lawmakers about this injustice.

Can you believe that it will cost me another $75 to draw that sheep tag Miller thinks has his name on it. Pretty soon, I will have to get the wife a third job. Or maybe shake the coins out of my couch.

Hate to break the news to you guys, but you are all putting in for units that have one less available sheep tag than you think. One of them has my name on it. Hell, if Miller has his name on one, you guys may not want to bother applying. Save that outrageous fee and buy another tank of gas.

I am sure I have convinced you all to not apply.

Woops, I forgot about the turkey tag in there as well.:D

Life is good, can't compare with AK tags, but life is still OK (not to be mistaken with that state north of TX).;) :D

Bigfin,

Isnt it $78 up front then another $50 if you draw?

I tell you what, I'll save both you and Miller some money by drawing a $750 NR tag.

I suppose the odds of me drawing a Montana sheep tag on the first try are even less than the odds of drawing my Dall tag on the first try? ;)

I've only spent $87 so far...forgot my archery endorsement and haven't purchased any turkey licenses, which I probably won't since I don't have alot of time to travel and the only turkeys I've seen in helena have all been around the capital.

Yeah I forgot 128.00 each for moose sheep or goat. It just keeps going!!!!!! Quess I'll have to drop down to one pizza a month to save the coin:eek: .
While you guys are screwing around with those stinky sheep I am drawing a mountain goat tag. Shouldn't have any competion this year as everyone has sheep on there mindshump .

You are right, it went up to around $130 this year, with processing fees. Since I had to get a loan for the other $50, I forgot that it actually cost me that much.

I might go pawn some guns this week to drum up enough money to make the moose and goat apps, but I would hate to have that interfere with the sheep hunt. Maybe one of the six credit card apps I get each day would front me the money.

But, if I drew moose or goat, besides interfering with my sheep hunting, that $130 fee would probably blow my budget for another two or three years.

If you are absolutely certain you are going to draw that sheep tag, I might ask for a refund now, so I don't get charged that outrageous $3-$5 processing charge, knowing I may only have a 1 in 2 chance of drawing. Hell, I could buy two more bullets with that money.

Naw, I guess I will risk the extra $5 and stay in the sheep draw, even though you may have reduced my odds. I will have to think long and hard about the moose and goat. $5 here, $5 there, and before you know it, we're talking about big money here.

Happy Hunting!

Hntnhrd,

I'll save you the money on the goat tag as well...I need another mountain goat from Montana.

I'm such a nice guy I wouldnt even bitch about another Montana Moose permit either!

Bigfin,

I was just trying to save you and Miller some coin...I'm a nice guy like that.

Oak,

If you draw a MT sheep tag on your first try...you will get an ass kickin'. But I will tag along after the ass kickin' is over.

You get much kinder, and you will probably die of enlargement of the heart.

Thanks for thinking of us.

I saw a post from a Billings guy on another website. He said he was getting another job to pay for these moose, goat, and sheep fees.

Said he was signin' up to be the rear admiral on the vaseline tanker.

For some reason, I believe him.

Bigfin,

I bet the guy would absolutely collapse if he saw the prices for NR sheep, goat, moose, elk, etc. in most states OTHER than Montana.

I have more in NR hunting licenses fees in AZ and NV that I'll never use than he pays for applying for moose, goat, and sheep in Montana.

It always amazed me when I lived in Montana how much people bitched about the hunting and fishing license fees.

One incident really sticks in my mind...this guy was bitching to some poor lady at the Missoula F&G Office about the cost of a resident fishing license ($15).

I couldnt stand it. I told him "You're bitching about a few pennies a day to fish when you'll probably go jump in your $20k truck with a $15k boat in tow filled with $100 fly rods, $3 apiece flies, and $30 worth of Schmidt..."

I thought the lady behind the counter was going to have a heart-attack she was laughing so hard.

From the look the guy gave me as he headed out the door...I was pretty sure he didnt think it was quite as funny.

I agree. When NV dinged me $1,200 for an elk tag two years ago, I still thought it was a pretty fair price. I only hope they ding me the same amount this year for one of the sheep tags I have applied for.

Not sure how I will explain to the wife if I ever draw a NM sheep tag. At $3,000 she will probably make me get a job.

Seems like some guys specialize in snivelling about the tag/license fees as they drive off in new trucks with a trailer full of ATVs. Like you, I have zero pitty for them.

Anyhow, I apologize in advance, to you and all other applicants, for taking one of the MT sheep tags out of the draw.

But, I don't aplogize to anyone for the fact that an AZ deer strip tag has my name on it this year. Then again, for the outrageous price of a $300 AZ strip deer tag, I may just have to let my AZ deer points expire. Greenhorn told me that an AZ deer hunt north of the ditch is not worth $3, let alone $300. Better re-think this one. $300 could buy a lot of beer and doughnuts. Well, maybe a little beer and peanuts.

Hell with it. At that price, I am not applying for AZ deer. Better go get another Hamm's Light before I hit the sack.

Happy Hunting!

I don't know how I'm going to scrape up up the extra cash next year when I get to start putting in for goat and moose again. Maybe I can hawk the wheels on the single wide?

and $30 worth of Schmidt..."

That's a chitload of Schmitdt:eek:

What makes Montana's licenses even moreof a bargain is the fact that FWP doesn't have any sales tax revenue stream. We don't get dinged 7% to buy our hunting gear like you do in most states (probably more for those in those bunny hugger states). Before moving to MT I could say with 100% confidence that I used to spend in excess of $100/year just in taxes on the gear I purchased.
